David Wilson Homes, a developer building in Bodicote, recently hosted carpentry students from Banbury and Bicester colleges at a ‘housebuilding experience’ on their site.
The nine students who visited the Pavilions development, in Bodicote, learned about the various trades plied on a new homes development, and the skills required for work in the construction industry.
The trip was part of David Wilson Homes’ efforts to include local communities in their projects, offering educational opportunities on-site.
Alison Heath, Faculty Co-ordinator at Banbury and Bicester College, said: “the visit to the Bodicote development gave our carpentry students a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand how the practical skills they are learning fit into the work environment.”
The trip came at a pivotal time for these students, who are currently deciding their own career paths.
