Midfielder Shepherd Murombedzi has returned to Banbury United following unsuccessful trials with Leyton Orient and Mansfield Town, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Manager Paul Davis said: “I’m disappointed for him, but I’m sure he will get something soon because he’s a talented player.”

The 19-year-old, who was a trainee at Reading, comes back into the squad for tonight’s Southern League Premier Division clash against Cambridge City at Spencer Stadium tonight.

And Davis is keen to see his side put their disappointing FA Cup defeat behind them, and move off the bottom of the table.

The Puritans bowed out 3-0 at Vanarama Conference South side Weston-super-Mare on Saturday in the second qualifying round.

But Davis is confident they will make amends on their return to league action.

He said: “It’s nice to have another game so soon after Saturday and it’s a chance for us to put that game behind us, because it was disappointing.

“I’ve let them know that Saturday wasn’t good enough. If you’re genuinely beaten by a better team then you hold your hands up, but we just didn’t turn up.

“But I wouldn’t want to be Cambridge and have to come here, because there will be a reaction after what happened on Saturday.”
