HENLEY Hawks were crowned National League 2 South champions in fine style, after a commanding 66-17 victory over struggling Shelford.

After leading the standings for 26 games, Hawks were not to be denied as they scored 12 tries in an emphatic win.

Henley are 15 points ahead of Bishop’s Stortford with three games to play, but their 23 victories cannot be matched.

James Comben scored an unconverted try, before George Eastwell, Dave Manning, Oskar Hirskyj-Douglas and Stuart Philpott went over to make it 29-3.

Comben converted two of the tries, while Steven Smith kicked a penalty for Shelford.

Eastwell dived over for his second, while Lloyd Owen (2), Connor Murphy, Jake Randall, Tom Hall and Fred Pierrepoint all crossed.

Grant Anderson and John Naylor scored converted tries for the visitors.

Chinnor grabbed a bonus point in a thrilling 46-45 defeat to Stortford.

Thirteen tries, including one penalty try, were scored in a game that also saw four yellow cards.

Alfie To’oala forced his way over for Chinnor, with Ed Keohane converting, before Tom Whiteley levelled.

Chinnor made it 14-7 when Robbie Martey scored a converted try and, despite having Martin Nutt sent to the sin bin, extended their lead when To’oala went over for his second.

Nicholas Hankin scored a converted try, but Chinnor led 26-14 at the break when Jack Hayes crossed.

Stortford started the half well, with scores from Whiteley (2), a penalty try, Hankin, Neville and Coleman.

Whiteley converted three of the tries to make it 40-26 to the visitors.

Chinnor replied with Hayes going over for his second, Keohane converting.

Whiteley kicked Stortford further ahead and another penalty in the 76th minute was enough for the win, despite a late flurry of converted tries from Darren Oliver and James Tyas.
