OXFORD United have sent Cameron Gayle out on loan to Cambridge United after extending the defender's stay at the club by two months.

The 23-year-old former Shrewsbury full-back has made two appearances - the Emirates FA Cup tie at Braintree and in the JPT against Dagenham & Redbridge - since signing on a short-term contract last month.

Gayle will now spend two months on loan at the Abbey Stadium, but United have a 28-day recall clause.

He is likely to be included in Shaun Derry's squad against Morecambe in Sky Bet League Two tonight.
