TOM Anstice enjoyed a prosperous day in the final Youth Development League fixture of the season at Wormwood Scrubs.

The Radley AC under 20 athlete won the javelin, shot and discus in the South/West 1B division, helping Team Oxfordshire finish fourth with five points.

Oxon also secured a top-four finish in the overall standings.

Anstice was the standout performer, throwing a personal best of 64.18m – an improvement of 8.38 – to beat his nearest challenger, Alex Kotelwala, of Hillingdon, by 26.63.

It was also a club record and moves the 19-year-old, who has improved by 11m over the course of 2016, up to seventh in the national rankings for his age group.

His success did not stop there as he also won the shot with a best of 11.04 and threw 29.54 to take victory in the discus.

It also turned out to be a club record breaking day for clubmate Alex Miell-Ingram, who continued his good form by beating his own 3,000m under 20 mark by triumphing in 9mins 35.1secs.

Also competing for Oxon was Abingdon’s Zack Smith, who took third in the 200m.

In the under 17 event, Blake Strickland-Bennett, of Radley, recorded a hurdles doubles, triumphing in the 100m and 400m.

Clubmate Harry Woodcock took victory in the hammer, while Oxford City’s Max Crowther won the discus.

Radley’s Luisa Chantler Edmond took centre stage in the under 20 girls, winning the discus and shot as well as landing second in the javelin.

Clubmate Katie Gregory was second in the long jump.

Petrina Chantler Edmond, also Radley, enjoyed success in the under 17 event, winning the shot and triple jump.

City’s Ella Turner triumphed in the 200m and came second in the 100m, while Victoria Harter, of Radley, took third in the javelin.

Banbury Harriers competed in Solihull and finished seventh overall in the Midlands North East 1A division.

Michael Dawes won the under 20 hammer with an impressive throw of 52.14, which he followed up with victory in the discus and second place in the shot.

George Adams clinched second in the javelin with a best of 34.58.

Charlie Yates won the under 17 long jump with a personal best of 5.73, while Ollie Sprio clinching the 100m and 200m.

Jess Cherry enjoyed a successful day with victories in the under 20 girls’ shot and hammer.

Under 17 Shannon Dawes landed club records of 29.84 and 32.36 to take second in the hammer and javelin respectively, while Abbey Anson won the 100m.
